How COVID-19 Hit the Community of Teachers
As the saying goes – ‘Matha Pitha Guru Deivam’, in Indian culture, we consider our teachers as equals to Gods as they are the ones who have introduced and guided us to the wisdom of knowledge.
Recently, COVID-19 has turned the life of teachers in India into an uphill and rocky ride, and many of them are struggling to make ends meet as they lost their jobs. Many teachers have contacted me from different parts of India asking for help or just talking about the struggles they go through every day, and it is heartbreaking for me just to be a witness to their struggles.
I think it is our duty to help them get through this crisis, as we are the ones who have benefited from their tireless efforts to prepare us for the future and to help us get to where we are today. Extending a helping hand during these difficult times will be the best way to offer our gratitude to our teachers and be blessed for many generations to come.
As a person who is in the education field for more than 18 years, I will be there to support the community of teachers who struggle during these difficult times, and I call each one of you to help our teachers who strive to bring food to their tables, who are thinking suicide as their only way forward. Let’s not leave them starving, and let’s together extend our helping hands to bring them back to life.
